Job Summary
The Scottsdale Community College's (SCC) Counseling Department is seeking two Counseling faculty membersto support students by providing instruction and services that promote personal development, foster academic and professional growth, as well as enhance mental health, wellness, and resiliency. We are seeking two Counseling faculty members who will support and believe in our students! This position will provide academic and career counseling for students attending SCC by delivering and interpreting career assessments, identifying students' needs to ensure success; as well as teach a variety of counseling and personal development courses including first year experience classes.

Essential Functions
Provides non-clinical counseling services via scheduled appointments as well as walk-in coverage to meet with students seeking individual attention related to personal, academic, and career concerns; administers and interprets career inventories; provides support in managing emergency situations, ranging from individual crisis intervention to campus-level incidents; provides professional consultation to faculty, staff, and administrators related to student concerns and referrals.

Teaches First Year Experience (FYE) and Counseling and Personal Development (CPD) courses and conducts workshops and class/group presentations; prepares and delivers course-related materials to satisfy course competencies, creates syllabi and lesson plans, creates rubrics, grades and offers instructional support/office hours.

Participates on a variety of campus and district-level committees, program initiatives, special projects, curriculum development and faculty/staff training; maintains a collaborative team approach within the counseling discipline, and with other campus team assignments; takes responsibility and leadership of student development/success programs; engages in active faculty development programming, including mandatory new faculty orientation and evaluation activities, as well as opportunities for professional skill development in instructional, counseling, and/or consultation roles.

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Master's Degree or higher in Counseling

In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications above, you must also have the following additional experience:
- Specific Coursework with a minimum of three (3) semester credit hours and five (5) quarter credit hours in:
1.Counseling Theories and Techniques
2. Personality Theories or Human Development
3. Testing Theories and Applications
4. Group Counseling Theories and Techniques
5. Career Counseling Theories and Resources
6. Individual Assessment
7. Practicum, supervised Practice, or Internship in Counseling.

Why is this Required?
As a service area who meets with students and provides services, these are the minimum standards that the Counseling Faculty will demonstrate both knowledge and skill within. These standards demonstrate minimum preparation and experience in the counseling profession and suggest minimum competence in the assigned area of teaching and service.

Desired Qualifications
A. Demonstrated experience teaching classes and/or creating curriculum that promote academic and personal growth within a community college, university or secondary education setting.
B. Evidence of effective counseling skills and experience.
C. Evidence of management/leadership skills and experience.
D. Experience working with underprepared students and diverse learners.
E. Demonstrated experience with programs aimed to enhance student success/achievement specific to student retention.
F. Demonstrated experience with career interest and personal growth inventories, and other assessments used to facilitate career exploration, and academic and personal development.
G. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with both campus and community resources/stakeholders that benefited student success.

Special Working Conditions
Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.
Will be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.
May be required to work evenings and weekends.
May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.
May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.
Climbing stairs and/or ladders to reach assigned areas along with working at heights.
Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends
Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required
Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters
