MENTAL HEALTH & COUNSELING, YALE HEALTH
POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE PROGRAM IN STUDENT MENTAL HEALTH
Yale Health Mental Health & Counseling (MHC) is accepting applications for a twelve-month postdoctoral associate appointment in college mental health for graduates of APA-accredited doctoral programs in clinical and counseling psychology. The postdoctoral associate appointment offers supervised clinical experience in student mental health at the college and university level, emphasizing outpatient treatment with undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students through individual and group psychotherapy. The postdoctoral associate position provides advanced training and experience in consultation, evaluation, and crisis intervention. Postdoctoral associates receive extensive supervision from senior clinicians and didactic training in the form of seminars, clinical rounds, and department grand rounds, which address topics specific to the college and young adult populations. Seminar topics include: group psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, individual psychotherapy, developmental considerations, diversity considerations, eating disorders, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, substance abuse, and a continuous case seminar.
Yale Health, Mental Health and Counseling is committed to addressing Yale students' psychological concerns and helping them achieve their intellectual and personal goals. We employ a diverse staff of clinicians consisting of clinical psychologists, clinical social workers, nurses, and psychiatrists who are skilled in diverse treatment approaches including individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, and medication management. Our providers work from a variety of theoretical orientations. We work collaboratively with students to identify the treatment approach that is most appropriate, considering their situation, preferences, and concerns.
As a postdoctoral associate at Yale Health, you are part of a 7 to 12-person class consisting of psychology postdoctoral associates, post-MSW fellows, and advanced psychiatry residents. This class participates in training and seminars together.
Anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Applications will be accepted through January 31, 2025.
