School Information: The School of Social Sciences and Education is going through a time of unprecedented growth with an enrollment of more than 5,000 students in Fall 2020. The School is composed of ten departments: Advanced Educational Studies; Ethnic Studies; Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies; Criminal Justice; Kinesiology; Political Science; Psychology; Social Work; Sociology; and Teacher Education. There are also multiple programs including Anthropology and Liberal Studies. There are approximately 80 full-time faculty and 30 staff across these departments and programs. The School offers undergraduate, graduate, and credential program, and a doctoral program in Educational Leadership (Ed.D.). The School also offers Criminal Justice; Child, Adolescent, and Family Studies; Sociology; and Education programs at the CSUB Antelope Valley campus. Accreditations in the School include AAQEP Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation), CTC (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing), and CSWE (Council on Social Work Education).

Department Information: The Advanced Educational Studies Department at CSU Bakersfield prepares counselors, special education teachers, and school administrators. Our programs and services prepare students for degrees and specific credentials required in the State of California for service in specialist and administrative positions that require advanced preparation and special competence. These programs also provide in-service educational opportunities for persons currently filling such positions.

The Advanced Educational Studies Department offers advanced services and specialist credential programs in Educational Administration,School Counseling, andSpecial Education. Department programs are accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP).

Position Description: The successful candidates will teach specialty courses in the Educational Counseling Program's School Counseling and/or Student Affairs concentrations and core program courses for all students. Additional duties include supervision of practicum and fieldwork placement (K-12) supervision; student advising; committee work; maintaining a program of scholarship; and service to the community and profession. Some additional duties may include program coordinator/directorship and teaching in the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership Program.

Minimum Qualifications:
Demonstrated commitment to teaching undergraduates and/or post-baccalaureate students from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds, including first-generation students
Doctorate in Counselor Education, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field (ABD candidates may apply; if ABD, doctorate must be conferred on an official transcript by August 1, 2024).
Demonstrated ability to teach master's-level School Counseling courses.
Evidence of, or promise for, supervision of master's students.
Evidence of, or promise for, scholarship (e.g., conference presentations, scholarly publications, grant writing).

Preferred Qualifications:
Professional experience as a K-12 School Counselor in the public schools (two years minimum) strongly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with candidates, staff, faculty, and partners.
Established record of success in serving linguistically and culturally diverse populations.
Proficiency with instructional technology.
Experience with online teaching.
Demonstrated commitment to diversity.

Rank and Salary:
Assistant or Associate Professor; rank and salary based on qualifications and experience.
Anticipated annual salary range for Assistant Professor: $74,000 to $81,000
Anticipated annual salary range for Associate Professor: $81,000 to $88,000
